The main differences between EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) and traditional antivirus are:

  1. Protection Scope: EDR provides comprehensive security with advanced threat detection and response capabilities, while antivirus primarily focuses on identifying and removing known malware.
  2. Detection Methods: EDR employs AI, machine learning, and behavioral analytics for real-time monitoring and threat identification, whereas most antiviruses rely mainly on signature-based detection.
  3. Response Capabilities: EDR includes advanced incident response tools and continuous monitoring, allowing for proactive threat management, while antivirus typically offers basic remediation features.

CyberSure will send a ‘Proactive Protection’ guide to our customers to ensure they maintain their cybersecurity posture. This is not a ‘set & forget’ program as our systems need regular updates and we often need to test our backups, etc.

Some examples – You should expect to update your applications, operating systems and ensure change your passwords every 3 months to maintain good cyber posture. Refer to our guide for more practical guidance.

At CyberSure we explain the level of service we are delivering from the outset. If you take our Residential Tier, we will provide you with a guide on what steps to take in the event of a cyber breach. If you take our Small Business Tier, we have a Managed Detection and Response component in our Endpoint Protection service which includes a 24/7 incident response service.

You can notify our Security Operation Centre of a breach and you will be contacted within 30 minutes to begin the investigation & remediation efforts. You incident response token can be activated on the web portal we provide you upon sign up.
